Socks! what else?

ok, now some knitting!!!! do you like the pretty greene socks??? i was greedy and......how do ya like the new Vesper Sock Yarn ?? won't show the white afghan -- it's grown but looks the same!! oh yea, forgot that progress has been made on the Dani - Sunshine Yarns self striping Iris socks ~just need DIL to approve the heel flap length. so many sock yarns are asking to be knit -HELP -send size one double point needles!

6 Weird Things About Me

1. 360 days a year - I leave my home with sopping wet hair. the 5 or so days i don't are in deference to the sweet person who cuts my hair and tells me "honey, you shouldn't wash your hair EVERY day". i have repeatedly been told -by family, friends, co-workers -STRANGERS- that i will "get pneumonia" - so sorry! i've been doing this since i was probably 11 years old & have NEVER had pneumonia!

2. old news: I want to be cremated and my ashes placed in an urn on the mantel so that my children / grandchildren may visit & talk with me whenever they like --- new news: i've asked my hubby to have whatever sock yarn i have left cremated with me!

3. I (minutely) hesitate when offered a phone receiver or cell phone & if i haven't been able to wipe said item off with an antibacterial wipe -i won't put it to my ear- but will ask the person on the other end to please speak up! co-workers & docs will actually apologize when they use my phone & ask where the wipes are --hee hee~! & i re-wipe the phone when they leave ~ what if they missed a spot? oh & i will admit to wiping down at work the counters, keyboard, mouse & doorknobs too.

4. I love the snow & cold ......hubby finds it funny... i will laugh & dance & act "weird" when winter comes .....my boss knows not to expect me at work if it snows - i'll be home playing in it!

5. I will only wear Sketchers tennis shoes. i wear clogs & such but tennis shoes must be Sketchers-they make flip flops too! try them!

6. I always wear socks to bed, i can't sleep if i don't. doesn't matter if it's 100 degrees -hot/humid - i gotta have socks.

L B got a little knitting machine thingy and made her baby brother a purpley sparkley hat!

(oh,,,she & her Mom can knit "for real" too)


L J has asked to knit also......but i kinda learned that at 6 it's frustrating to both parties......not to mention that the Dad - welp - let's just say he's not totally FOR a boy knitting!

Quick like Socks!

yep, still working on socks.....have the self striping Iris at the heel flap DIL wanted the cuff a little longer than usual...the Socks That Rock cuffs are almost done...started some green ones - yarn dyed with Koolaid.

butttt.......found this great pattern for dishrag, washrag, washcloth & have been making quite a few! they are easy & quick & portable!!!

there is an amazing internet site that has a bajillion patterns for cloths.






I like the circular one best, it's only taking me about an hour to make --i think that the co-workers will be receiving them at the Christmas party on wednesday morning!!!

returning to

our regularly scheduled knitting!!!!

knitting has been happening.....welp, more finishing....the white afghan hopes to be done today,
the pink baby afghan hopes to come out of the "oops forgot i was working on that pile",

the Gecko scarf is done but needs its felt eyes - for some reason i can't seem to get them just right - oh and one of his legs is on wrong...perhaps i should have read further in the pattern before knitting that part!!!!! whatcha gonna do????........hee! just leave it (and say he was "born" deformed!) honestly, could you see it before i told you?

started & finished some cute little baby socks from the left over Sassy Stripes socks

hey hey, remember the ugly wimple??? the co-worker was talking about it the other day & i said "ya know if ya need it to be a little more snug around your face you can run some elastic thru the inside loops" and she goes "that is such a great idea, i'm gonna do that!" well, DUH! the thing is supposed to kinda hug her face! i shouldn't have listened to her or let her try it on til it was done then it would have been how the pattern said - this is part of the reason why i only knit for family. I find people who don't knit (or even craft) have no idea how to proceed but...... have grand ideas of how & what you should knit for them!

working on an afghan that was started in April or so.....hope the person wasn't expecting it to be a quick knit!!

it's moving along tho and would be nice if i can finish by Jan.

not SO blurry?

okey dokey the socks are done! washed & dryed - yep! i tossed those puppies right into the washer & dryer - with just a brief moment of unease!

they returned to me with no shrinking, felting or fading! hubby said "you're going to wash the Koolaid right out of them" but i'm happpy to say he was wrong!!









can you see my short row heel?? my toe sucks cause i tried to pick up the wraps like the pattern said. then i remembered doing a Six Sox pattern that didn't pick them up and used that on the heels -- turned out much better! just leave the stitches double wrapped and no holes!! YAY!

these were a lot of fun & more so cause i dyed the yarn. Knitpicks really has some great yarns, this is their superwash bare merino sock. i'm impressed that it washes & DRIES!

mostly ugly wimple!

i finished this a couple weekends ago. it is truly ugly, in my opinion, however, my co-worker adores it and that's what counts!

it was also a big pain to photo. there was no way to get it to look good.

the pattern was easy to memorize, & it called for more decreases but she (at work) has some kind of phobia about stuff being close or tight near her head & neck so the thing is too "open"? plus it wouldn't grow! i kept knitting & knitting & knitting & it was still the same size - go figure.






not that i prefer my face to be squished but seems like a doing the decreases would have made it more 'something' other than this big blob of brown acrylic!

oh welp, the point is she likes it.

got some laceweight yarn to make this wimple for me! Wavy Feathers Wimple by Caryll Designs see how it kinda circles the face?

Blanket woes

this is L M's blanket i'm making....each child received one shortly after birth.

it's going along fine, sorta

yep, it's crocheted, yep, it's acrylic, yep it's annoying -

it's a kit from Mary Maxim (?) it's darn cute in the (finished) picture & i'm liking how the different color yarns flow.

but but but but but..i'm getting concerned cause it's supposed to be a STAR! my points aren't pointy enough,,i think,,,,,

so i'm making some adjustments to the pattern to -hopefully- make the points a point!

L M says "hurry up Mamere, i'm cooooold". but he's really not! his mommy finished her pretty fleece blankie she made him and he's just as cozy as can be!!!
