i was very sad to read this . i can't even begin to imagine.

my first experience with autism was when i was waitressing at P*zza Hut. i waited on a couple & their 2 boys....now i love kids and will just talk, talk, sing, play etc. and i thought their boys were absolutely adorable. found crayons & markers & paper for them to draw while pizza cooking. stayed to help them cut their slices.....as the mom took the boys out to the car, the dad stopped me to say how much he appreciated my including both boys in activities - he said the older was autistic & had some hard times: eating out, crouds, waiting, just general noises & lights & that alot of people only spoke to the younger child. that he & his wife had relaxed & enjoyed the pizza & time out.

i had no idea. but have learned a little more over the years, one of our cardiologists has an autistic son . Dr B is very active in educating/awareness.

anyhoooo..... i wish that people would realize that they don't have a clue as to what is happening in other peoples lives ~ that sometimes it's NONE of their business ~ that sometimes it's OK to offer help. to the ones who judge (or try to) remember: bad karma comes back to you! off my soapbox now...........

mostly organized! i tried to hurry, but hubster arrived home ~ saw all the yarn out ~ i think he's on to me!! he called it a "yarn explosion"

this is one cabinet he's not looked in!

there is yarn hidden everywhere - no not hidden -all he has to do is LOOK! i have decided to uhhh downsize (am only keeping the sock yarn & special yarns purchased for a ?reason?)

there is a huge bin (okay 2-3 huge bins!) that i've not looked at/opened in probably a year ~ guess that can go ~ should i look in there first? just to see what's what?

pretty girl is totally bored & wants me to just cut the "yarn" loose!!

i finally called my mom to say Happy Mother's Day......yes, there is no doubt......i'm a slacker!

but i'm having issues retrieving the pics of the started socks ~ i have had 3 beers tho, that might be the issue (those of you who know me know that after 2 beers ~ you can usually find me under the talbe - hey, i can't type either! that's table)

the cat finds me boring & wants the weird human to leave him alone!off to get my 4th beer ~ hubby infrorms me that it's frozen

the yarn is BFL from Lazy Perry Ranch and is positively wonderful!!


i've only missed 2 YO's & they were each at the end of a row so only had to tink back the knit row!!! (sorry for blurry pic)



next up are the 2 Socks that Rock sock club kits ~ yes, i joined ~ i missed the first time (so technically i started 3 pairs of socks instead of 2 ~ sorry tiger socks!)




can't find the pic for the other kit - it's the first one, Inside out sock.

i used the TinkerToy swift to wind the yarns! it's a hoot!

the pics i took of those socks were even more blurry than the above - will try this weekend.

tiger socks should feel lucky that i have so many dpn's in the correct sizes ~ they got to stay on their needles!

hey, want to see what i'm getting??? this (2 count them, TWO! of this!) Alpaca - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia YEP! not kidding, so not kidding!

in hubby's quest for a new out of city / mountain view home......he's agreed to land for a cow & 2 alpacas!! (well, he's hoping i'll drop the cow part ~ i don't know ~ i like cows! )

he finds the alpacas interesting & we'll get babies so they can grow & know us. and you should see just how many are actually in the U.S.A....Farm & Ranch Locator -scroll down so you can see the cool map of US with all the alpaca icons!

of course, i won't be raising them or have them for uhhhh "commercial" use, they'll be my friends! The Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association - lots of research to do!

hmmmmm......i hope the cats don't mind. oh & i know that alpaca is probably not the best yarn for socks but who cares!!!!! alpacas are soooo cute!

i called #1 son & demanded "where is dig camera" (he has an AWESOME dig camera) he says to "call S i think it's in the van - why"

so i tell him "i gave the baby an oreo & i need the camera" (yes, this mess is from just one oreo)

his response: "uh, mom, the phone you're talking on is a camera" woo hooo!!!!

to Nana & Poppa: the chocolate came out of the shirt - i promise, i rinsed it in cold water, etc......i just love the clothes you're sending! they are so cute & perfect for a little guy.

can someone please please tell me: why (o why) the package has you plant them all in the pot together then try to separate them when they are "so" tall???? we planted these in their clump (cause the first set we tried to separate all died) what is wrong with just telling you to plant each individual seed in an individual pot of dirt???!

hi sockpal!!! yep, i still love wild bright colors - as far as patterns, i really don't have a preference ~ whatever the yarn wants to "be" is how my socks appear ! which by the way is probably why i'm having such a time with these jaywalkers - i'm trying to force the yarn to be what i want!

No Clogs :(

i can't wear my clogs.....i'm sad! my clogs are my friends (except in summer - hurry summer - clogs just don't look right in shorts & bathing suits!).

here's why ~long story! shortly after T came home from hospital,,,,,i was in J's room watching a movie & knitting (what else!). couldn't find my scissors so was using a new nail clipper - had it on my lap, at some point it must have fallen to the floor - welp, the timer on the stove for dinner beeped, put my sock knitting down, stood up & yep -----stepped right on the file that swings out on the nail clipper. went in ball of my heel a full inch ~ yep, i measured it (after yanking it out) with my trusty knitting tape measure!

meanwhile, the timer is still beeping, i yelled -might have said a bad word - yanked it out - snagged a towel from the linen closet - limped down the hall - turned off timer - took food out - told hubby & T dinner was ready - looked at the floor & saw had tracked blood all over - tightened towel - grabbed Clorox wipes (most aren't familiar with my "quirk"about heme) and proceeded to clean all the tracks!

no, i did not go to the ER (what is my rule on the weekends?). besides, they don't really do anything special for puncture wounds, i yanked it out quicker than they would! i would have spent hundreds of dollars for them to yank, put bandaid & give antibiotic precription-which i would have had to pay extra for-i can now spend those hundreds of dollars on yarn.

down side - my heel is still healing & the clogs make my foot hurt. thankfully, my foot did not have one of my handknit socks on it - i was trying on the Jaywalkers!

the Tiger socks have been whining for a week ~ to be at least worked on (hey, i have an excuse -the garter short row heel thingy really takes a lot of focus for me - something i can't do right now is focus well!).

Sockapalooza4 is calling me ~ i've got so many sock patterns swirling thru my head! i can't wait to start something - there are only 2 pairs of socks on my needles - way odd for me!

T had his first physical therapy session yesterday (he only cussed twice!) Now he (we) have to go twice a week for a while, not to mention all the other follow-up CT's, CXR, doc appts ~ i need to quit my job just to get all this done!

i hadn't seen L B, L J, L M in a week --- got to see them yesterday -- but forgot the camera :(

yum! the fiber in the Learn to Spin kit is sooooo soft, you almost can't feel it soft! have watched the video on spinning ~ nicely done, i think i can do it! the green/brown roving is from a local person - had to get that - but been eye-ing some roving at Hello Yarn site!! not to mention the BFL roving at Vesper Sock Yarn

i've never tried Artyarns Ultramerino 4 & got some of that! -- now no more gift cert!!!!

oh & bought can of TinkerToys for this tinkertoy swift ~ it really works & used it to wind some new sock yarn that joined the stash ~ Claudia's Handpainted ~ double yum!!

Annoying Socks!

the Jaywalkers are done done done!!! i really like them!

when i started the toe, i couldn't figure out why my stitch count was off from the pattern & realized that somehow i "modified" the pattern.....it was an accident! it's really called....didn't read after picking up gussets - i just figured that you decrease down, keeping the pattern going....but there was supposed to be a slipped stitch at each side (didn't do that) and less stitches than started with - so i think the toe looks a little (LOT) box''y - i COULD have ripped back & done them right but this was the ANNOYING sock yarn so i left it.

but otherwise they fit! & i didn't run out of yarn!! & i have to agree with someone's blog i read -- she was talking about how taking pics of socks yourself makes your legs look quite huge --so true! i promise, my legs don't really look this way (or DO they!?)

oh, i got my sock pal for Sockapalooza4 ! ~~time to start searching for the perfect pattern~~ something to do while shuttling T to all these follow-up doc appts!
