for some reason this week has been such a pain!!

have been working (yuck!) 3 days a week instead of 2.......

here's the deal: i was replaced by 2 people........one has decided to stay.........the other pissed off the boss and is now out of there.....the boss gave away the full time position........because i feel a certain obligation after 23 years, i'm working more!

Summer of Socks 2008! the anklets are finally done!

these poor things should have been finished on our trip to West VA :Pcan you see the color diff??? same color, same dyelot ~ go figure!

it's funny, i love this pattern and usually keep track of what i've done ~ the original pattern calls for thicker yarn and casting on 48 stitches. was using fingering sock yarn so cast on 60 ~ somehow i forgot that when got to the heel and did the heel on 24 stitches instead of 30!

it looks funny in the sock but it fits great! i probably should have ripped them back but by the time i realized it ~ was too far ~ and decided to see how the socks would wear.

first time using Claudias Handpainted - i like it! but see the pointy toes?? i forgot (again) that i don't follow this pattern's decreases ~ i stop sooner and kitchener more! however they don't bug me in my shoes so i won't be fixing ~ shocking for me, i know!

TWO things!

L B is beginning 5th grade and L J 3rd ~~~ wooooooo they are getting old too!

and oooooo a cinnamon candle! chocolate covered pretzels! (brave woman to mail those!) and some yummy smelling peach iced tea mix ~ yep! i smelled it! hey! i smelled the sock yarn too!!!

a cute little smiley face box with some balloon racers for me munchkins! since i'll be over there this evening, i'll take them with me!! L B returns from Girl Scout camp tonite :)

you would think that with Summer of Socks 2008! now 20 days out i'd have a pair of socks to show!



good thing there aren't any rules ~my type of party ~ huh S? ~no rules!



i even picked an ankle socks cause i love this pattern - it's easy, it's cute, plus - "it fits muh feet"


3 days without kids, 5 hours of car travel = NO socks!


my excuses:

1. the scenery was too pretty (and very hard to capture at 70+ mph)


2. saw some alpacas on the side of the road (around waynesboro)


3. had to keep an eye out for spinning wheels


4. lots of deer were out and needed mental projecting to make sure they stayed off highway

welp, these socks should be wearable by the weekend!!
