magic!!! socks

i only flirt with toe-up socks..............have done several pairs but my preferred is top-down..........

i've observed & practiced the many different toe-up ~~ short row toe, crochet cast on, easy toe, even the "judy's magic cast on" ~ that i thought was very "fiddle--y"

remember this yarn??

welp, it's colinette jitterbug ~~ been in my stash for a bit ~~ this yarn has been known to have WAY less yardage than othersso when i decided to cast on i knew i had to toe-up it!!!

the only toe-up i hadn't successfully used was judy's.........but googled it.........found a great you-tube

pretty pretty!!!

oh yea, my other change is that usually i (nope ~ ALWAYS) knit socks with double points..........

this last trip (to search for a new home) tho, i kept dropping one down the side of my seat and had to unbuckle to reach and grab!......so these are on 2 circs .........for a new trip!

back and almost done! at the heel flap & i might have enough yarn for a decent calf length!

soft.....eeee.......ball!

ok....here are a few pics from L B's softball game the other evening........

the team they were playing had some cool orange splotchy socks! but i prefer the standard stripe ~ L B's are teal ~ easier to find your team on all the fields if there are stripes!!!

and let me tell you..........there were ALOT of fields.......it was cold and windy.....eye watering windy

wanna know the most SURPRISING thing?????

#2 son and i went to get some hot chocolate and passed the restrooms ~ so of course i stopped ~(hey my 2 sisters ~ remember our trip to Mom & Dad's and all the BR stops!)

ok.........so here it is........the SURPRISE..............ready????? are you sure?????

the bathrooms are HEATED!!!! YES -- HEATED!!!

with really really warm heat!!

no wonder the girls were all saying they had to go potty!!! (i'm teasing.....i never saw one of them head toward the restrooms)

p.s.........the hot chocolate was $2 ~ are they freaking crazy???

p.s.s......it'd be different if the sales benefited our teams.....but it's a sports "complex" so the money goes to a big corporation ~ smarmy creeps

p.s.s.s......of course i bought the hot chocolate & NO i didn't hide in the heated BR for the rest of the game ~ BLLLPPPPPP to you!

fast knit Socks!!!

these are the current pattern for Sockamania

they seemed to knit themselvesfound them hard to put down :P but wasn't knitting ALL the time ~~ weird......

i can't believe these socks are done & in the month the pattern came out!!!toes to graft :)

and completed ~~love the 70's colored yarn - heh!

heh......again....this is last months knit-a-longggg.......from Rachel's Knitting Room ?? i think!

it's a table runner & i was going to continue ~~ but got bored ~~ stopped at the point they said would make a large cloth plus i'd made a few ummm....pattern adjustments (mistakes?) ~ but a "cloth" doesn't care ~~ a table runner would have!

we had a bit of fun.........

at L J's first baseball game..........

it's supposed to be "coach" pitch but the pitching machine pitches

~ the coach puts the ball in the machine so maybe THAT's why they say "coach" pitch!!!!

the game was very exciting!!!!

brought back alot of memories :P

some of us were only interested in the dirt pile, the hot dogs, the peanuts, the water bottle!

any whooooooo.............lots of sun & fun

S & i got major forehead sunburns............L B's part (in her hair) got sunburned!!

note to all of us...........bring/get a CAP !! i got one!

welp! i failed in my filming of the All City Concert.....wahhhhh!

the camcorder wasn't fully charged and it refused to perform......

so these are from a cell and doctored a bit..........

she was so grown up! ~~ and the music was fabulous ~~ these kids hadn't played together - except for 3 or 4 practices

on the wallaby front ----

this is a size 4! -- if i hadn't made the sleeves longer -- it would have looked alot smaller! there are many positives to the pattern.........

tho...........i would make yours 2-3 sizes LARGER than the pattern recommends

he did wear it the rest of the afternoon and took it home with him! no response yet ~ from #1 son ~ about all the purple - HEE!

i used to have this t-shirt ~ in my 20's ~ that i wore ALOT!!

it said: "all i wanna know is.........can i get THERE from HERE"

i probably still have it !!

now in my (gulp) 40's ~~~

this is a test.......wallaby!

ta da!!! ok, so it's not perfect ~ that's the whole reason it's a "test" wallaby!

my notes:

1. at pouch, work with both yarns ~ even if not changing colors for pouch ~ keeps a working yarn there and uniform stitches to pick up

2. love the garter hood! love the 1" of k1p1 at neck to make the hood lay down when not worn...........but...but....but ~~ turn hood pieces inside out to garter kitchener ~ puts the seam inside ~ or try 3 needle bind off

ran out of the color again ~ should have done the hood in all PURPLE!

3. at underarm kitchener ~~ pick up extra stitches around ~~ makes prettier, no holes, non bulky

4. do one round of reverse single crochet entire hood and placket front ~ looks more "finished"

oh and i did the size 4 ~~ maybe my yarn (it was LionBrand Woolease from stash) was not TRUE worsted ~ this looks small ~ maybe size 2???

okey dokey ~~~ now i can buy yarn for MY size!!

know any little girl that might need an imperfect "test" wallaby??? this has too much purple to put on C D B!!

the original post title was "don't tell" ~~~ but i left the pics open on the monitor and we were caught!!

someone was in Unca T's room!!

wasn't me nope!

#3 son went out with #1 son and L J to purchase some baseball items ~~both L B and L J are playing this spring ~~ C D B stayed to hang out with Mamere.

now the g-kids aren't allowed in their uncles rooms without permission ~ so the first thing #3 son said when they got back was................."was he in my room??"

of course i answered......NO!

but he WAS very quiet at one point and when i went looking for him...........welp! the pics kinda tell it!

when #3 son saw the pics (by accident - he doesn't read here) he said "SEE i KNEW he was in my room"
