but i do admit i'm a sucky patient......just ask S! when i smashed my fingers and had the broken one in a splint - seconds after leaving the place i said "he's freaking crazy if he thinks i'm wearing this" and promptly took it off. hey, the thing was #1 on too tight #2 pushing the nail bed that popped out -back in! and then when S helped me fashion a splint out of popsicle sticks (that was not painful) ~~~ seconds after she left, i took it off :P
so when a car decided to dart out in front of me and cause me to smash my car and my airbags exploded i had no doubt i wouldn't be able to follow orders ~~~ PEOPLE listen to your bodies, it knows what you need!! and listen to your common sense (welp, assuming you have some ~hee!).
after an ambulance ride (no siren darn it!) and a couple hours for xrays and such i'm sent home with crutches/air splint and instructions of "no weight bearing" for a couple days -- please tell me how to even use the crutches!! it's my right ankle and my left hand/wrist. ~~my left hand swollen and unable to grip crutches, needless to say i ditched the crutches, got out my trusty frog slipper and hopped! oh and in the car, i'm taking off the air splint and husbeast (ha!) says what are you doing and i believe i responded (murky here cuz of the pain med) "he's freaking crazy if he thinks i'm wearing this"
all this leads up to.............i found that if i held my left hand fingers a certain way, they didn't hurt and i could............KNIT! tho it did take me 4 days to figure this out (pain med again)

started a dishcloth for my Dishcloth Swap partner

any hoo, finally after 6 days my ankle and arms are feeling better, the swelling is down ~ i drove yesterday and i wasn't scared.
see my pretty purple "rings" around my toe-sies???!

You need to learn to listen more and do less!!xoxox-S
S IS RIGHT!!!
I'm agreeing w/S and kat. I'm also gonna say that now that the swelling is somewhat down on your foot....GO BACK AND GET IT X-RAY'D AGAIN!!! Most fractures don't show up the 1st day b/c of the swelling. And keep wearing that air cast! Luv ya! Julie
Is that the foot one you hurt ehen you were at work with Dad? If it is you really should have another Xray. If you don't want to use crutch's do you know of anyone that would loan you a cane? It will help take pressure off when you walk. Another option is having them put a support cast on that allows you to walk. One ya can't take off.
Love you,
Connie
