it was foggy (clouds on the mountain!) in the morning, rained a little bit....husbeast(ha!) couldn't fly.....
there was lots to do around here ~~ still working on the closet shelves and emptying packed stuff...
#3 son and i decided to go down and get the mail and some spicy chicken patties!! as we were leaving it was thundering off in the distance.....i said it's gonna rain, should we go anyway? he wanted to get some applications out so we went...
it poured......man................ it poured!!
it was so cool :)
we did/got all that we'd planned and headed back ~~ at the entrance to the long trek up to our long driveway ~ a nice black truck stops and says "you aren't gonna make it." uhhhh what? "water is rushing over the 2nd culvert, you're not gonna make it up, everyone's turning around"
ok, so we turn around, call husbeast(ha!) and #2 son to let them know and head to the country store (oh but we ended up at Burger *ing)
the two at the house go out and wander our driveway and the road up to it and find a tree blocking one way ~ of course it's the easy way ~~ of course the vertical road is fine (i hate the vertical road! my car is a 5 speed and it rolls backwards ~ ya'all don't know my fear of rolling backwards do you?)
but all that doesn't matter cuz back at the bottom of the mountain ~ where we were ~ the road is washed away....the cute little 'crick' (aka creek) is a roaring flowing monster!
the poor cow and horse pastures are filled and the houses and cars are standing in some fast moving muddy water!
OOPSIE!
by now it's about 7pm and i really don't want to head up the mountain in the dark...we stop to get a newspaper and i ask the lady "so when it rains and such like this how long does it take for the water to clear?" she says "oh, a couple days" uhhhhh what? but her husband (off to the side) shakes his head NO ~ i'm going with his answer!
at some point i've told #3 that if it was cold ~ all this would be snow! ~ which earned me this incredulous LOOK that i cannot describe ;) heh!
at 8pm husbeast(ha!) calls ~gotta love cell phones!~ he's says a neighbor tells him a couple hours....
at 8:26pm ~~ i've HAD it, i tell #3 we are going home! we get back to the entrance ~ a fair amount of the flooding of the road is gone ~ but there are big trucks and bulldozers there with a sign that says "road closed, high water"
but in front of us is another car - obviously a neighbor - and when the one truck leaves - he pulls around the sign and starts up the road ---- me too! me too!!
hey....BTW.... i found out what a culvert was!!!
it's not too bad, most of the water is gone, then at the last point before our turn up the vertical road......a nice (aka huge) flow of 'crick' across the road ~ the guy in front of me has stopped, we do too, he and #3 son light up and we all stand talking ~~ do we try it?? we've got cars not trucks
#3 is talking to husbeast(ha!) and i tell him.....we'll just get a hotel room for the night ~ but neither of us wants to....
another neighbor comes up behind and he's got a little niss*n truck ~ he decides to go and we watch ~ good thing too ~ gave us where the lowest point was and how fast to go thru!
the guy with us says "i don't know"
i tell #3 son "come on, i'm doing it" AND i swear, i swear, i swear ~~ the guy with us went ONLY because a GIRL was going to ~~ i swear!

i've noticed things like that out here.....guys have issues with girls......being knowledgeable, thinking persons.........take the trash man for example.....only gave me barest of info.......then bonded totally when husbeast(ha!) and sons took trash......what a doofus!
oh yeah, i digress.......
we made it across the water and up to the vertical road, husbeast(ha!) and #2 were on their way down in the truck to get us ~ but it was unnecessary ~ never ever underestimate the power of a woman who wants to go home!
p.s. friday the cat (yep! the cat) found our basement flooded ~ spent the day unpacking and trying to save stuff!
